Frank and Leslie's Big Adventure - L.A. April 2008

Here we come Hollywood! Dad lived in L.A. from age 10 - 20. He wanted to visit his old haunts, friends and family.

He stayed at George's casita and I stayed on the Queen Mary down in Long Beach. We visited with Aunt Mad who is still doing great at 96!

Dad's friends from high school.

Dad said I wanted to have my picture taken here. "I did?", was my response. It made him happy.

My feet in the Pacific at last. April 18th at Redondo Beach before we caught our flight home.

Frank Carl Javarone July 25, 1939 - May 14, 2008

Frank Carl Javarone died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford CT, attended by his devoted wife Barbara after a long illness.Born July 25, 1939 in Gloversville, NY, the son of Angelo Javarone and Antoinette Modafferi Javarone. Frank attended McNab Elementary School before moving to Los Angeles, CA, where he attended the St. Teresa of Avila School and St. Agnes High School. He completed his secondary education in Gloversville, NY. Frank excelled in becoming a bright, self-taught individual who possessed great knowledge on a wide variety of subjects.

As a young man, he worked for various leather companies in Gloversville and Finkle Distributors. He ultimately made a successful career for over 25 years as a pharmaceutical salesman with Warner Lambert, Menley & James Pharmaceuticals and Purpac Pharmaceuticals. Always the diligent hard worker, after retiring from pharmaceutical sales, he was employed at the Golfer’s Warehouse in Hartford, CT until the time of his passing.Frank was a passionate golfer, and took pride in collecting and restoring antique golf clubs. People as far away as Japan and professional golfers such as Lee Trevino enjoyed his classic quality clubs. Frank had an eclectic love for music, especially Jazz and was a friend to many musicians. He also was a great follower of horse racing and the New York Yankees. He enjoyed celebrating his birthday at the Saratoga Racetrack at the start of each racing season.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara (Kline) Javarone; 2 daughters, Leslie Javarone French of Albany, NY and Paula Javarone Blance (William) of Ballston Lake, NY; 2 grandsons, Dominic and Anthony Blance; 2 stepchildren, Walter Feldmann of Orange, CT and Linda Feldmann of Delmar, NY; 2 stepgrandchildren, Emma and Trevor Feldmann; former wife, Sonja (Sontvedt) Javarone of Mayfield, NY, as well as an uncle, Joe Javarone of Gloversville, NY; and numerous aunts and cousins throughout the world, especially Jeanette Nicholson of Troy, NY and George Willert of Torrance, CA, who had always been like a sister and brother to him. He is predeceased by his parents, infant brother and numerous loving aunts and uncles who will surely welcome him home to the eternal “Javarone Family Picnic.”Memorial celebrations of his life will be arranged by the family at a later date both in Farmington, CT and Gloversville, NY. Frank felt strongly about the ability of golf to open up a new world for disadvantaged youth. In this effort, other young children of immigrants may grow to transcend their socio-economic condition. Donations may be made in the name of Frank Carl Javarone to the Tiger Woods Foundation by going to http://www.tigerwoodsfoundation.org./ Everyone who knew and loved Frank “caught a winner.”
